Prophecy not fully Understood until near Fulfillment

It is not in accordance with God’s providential dealings to suppose that the epoch of the occurrence of events should be known for a long period previous to their fulfillment: for such knowledge is not needed by those who live in earlier periods of the world’s history. Forty years before the deliverance of Israel from Egypt (Acts 7:25), “they understood not” that God would deliver them by the hand of Moses.” When Daniel inquired respecting the end of wonders that extended to the resurrection, he was told (Dan.12:9) that “the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” And when (1 Pet. 1:10-12) “prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand of the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow,” it was revealed unto them, “that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister.”
The declaration that the words were sealed up till “the time of the end,” implies that, at the period referred to, the obscurity in which they might be shrouded from the understanding of those living in previous ages, would be penetrated so that their import should be no longer a sealed mystery. Not only so, but, in the context, it is expressly declared (Dan. 12:4) that, at the time or period of the end, “many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” And it is also added (v.10), that “many shall be purified and made white, and tried: but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand: but the wise shall understand.” That which they were to understand was that which was to be closed up and sealed till that period of understanding should arrive, and which, by its being denominated a ”time” may, perhaps, be understood as comprising a period of three hundred and sixty years, commencing, not unlikely, with the Protestant Reformation, during which knowledge was to be disseminated, and to be continually increased by the running to and fro of many, — their running to and fro being not merely a movement in space, but put by substitution for the various and often contradictory interpretations which should be advanced, each serving to call attention and adding interest to the subject,
until the true light should have gradually dawned on the minds of believers, who should earnestly give themselves to the study of unfulfilled prophecy. “For the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge;”(Prov.18:15) and, said the prophet (Hos.14:9), “Who is wise, and he shall understand these things; prudent, and he shall know them?” Such will delight in the study of “the things which shall be revealed.”

The Three Frogs

The Spirits Organizing The Wicked for the Final Battle.
A.D. 1830 – Consummation. Updated 2015

Rev. 16:13-14 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. (14) For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

The dragon being representative of that old serpent and the devil, in this spirit we look for the continued and pervasive influence of religious pagan idolatry rising in the world at large and even gaining influence in the visible church. We also anticipate the final rise of persecution and wave of martyrdom again emanating also from the visible church directed at the true Bible believing elect of God as in the Inquisitions of the past.

The beast which also gets its power from the Dragon, we recognize as the Roman Empire which morphs through history from the solid legs of iron in the Daniel chapter two image to the feet and ten toes mingled with clay when it is struck by the stone cut out without hands and desolated so that no place is found for it any more. We recognize this desolation as the same event described in Revelation as the fall of Mystery Babylon. The spirit coming from the mouth of this beast will result in the idolatry of State-ism as those who bowed before the Mystery Babylon Image of Nebuchadnezzar and a combination of Church-State-ism as practiced by the Temporal Reign of the biblical and historical Anti-Christ.

The false prophet from the G5578 is everywhere else in the bible translated as plural (false prophets), only in the Revelation is it translated singular. Here it may be taken as plural (they are the spirits of devils) and should be even if in any instance it may refer to a singular individual, as should the man of god, or even the man of sin may refer to a singular Pope or the whole line. The Spirit of Prophecy being described as the testimony of Jesus, the false prophet or spirit of false prophecy, would refer the the abundance of false gospels and the inundation of false prophecy and interpretation to deceive even the elect (if it were possible) as disseminated by this evil spirit in the final epoch leading up to the return of our Lord.

The Church in the Wilderness

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
(Rev 12:6)

…true Christians, avoiding the churches as being now nurseries of impiety, went into deserts and lifted up their hands to God with sighs and tears.”

Retrospective View Of The Two Witnesses

Rev. 11:7-12 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. (8) And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. (9) And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. (10) And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. (11) And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. (12) And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

Marvelously does the history of the period bear out the symbolic statements of the Apocalyptic vision. Such a gathering of the deputies of “people, and kindreds, and tongues, and nations,” were met together in this city of Rome upon occasion of the Lateran Council held from A.D. 1512-17 under the pontificates of Julius II. and Leo X. One of its principal objects was the total extirpation of heresies; and upon the last named Pope’s accession no time was lost in proceeding against the only heretics supposed to be surviving – the Bohemian Hussites. By a Papal bull these were summoned to appear before the Council at its next session, and the 5th of May 1514 was fixed for that important event.
