Early Church Fathers Were Historicist – H. Grattan Guinness

I continually hear that the early church fathers were all futurists with only vague references, there is nothing vague in what our author reveals here:

.1. The Fathers interpreted the four wild beasts of prophecy as representing the four empires, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome. Here we have the foundation of the historical interpretation of prophecy. Take as an instance the words of Hippolytus on the great image and four wild beasts of Daniel : ” The golden head of the image,” he says, “is identical with the lioness, by which the Babylonians were represented ; the shoulders and the arms of silver are the same with the bear, by which the Persians and Medes are meant ; the belly and thighs of brass are the leopard, by which the Greeks who ruled from Alexander onwards are intended ; the legs of iron are the dreadful and terrible beast, by which the Romans who hold the empire now are meant ; the toes of clay and iron are the ten horns which are to be;

There are several features in this portrait which I must ask you specially to notice. Observe the place occupied by the man of sin the “temple ” or house of God. This is not, and cannot be, any Jewish temple. Paul, who uses this expression in his prophetic portrait of Romanism, employs it both in Corinthians and Ephesians with reference to the Christian Church. In the second Epistle to the Corinthians, writing to Gentile Christians, he says, ” Ye are the temple of the living God ; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them.” In Ephesians he calls the Church “a holy temple,” a ” habitation of God through the Spirit ” ; and he would never have applied it to the Jewish temple,

…But this apostasy was to have a head, and the coming and character of that head are the great subject of Paul’s Thessalonian prophecy. A mistaken apprehension of his first letter to them had led the Thessalonians to expect an immediate advent of Christ, and in his second epistle Paul sets himself to correct this error by further instruction as to the future. He tells them of something that was destined to precede the return of Christ, a great apostasy, which would reach its climax in the manifestation of a certain mighty power of evil ; to which he attaches three names, and of which he gives many particulars similar to those which Daniel gave of his “little horn,” such as the place and time of its origin, its nature, sphere, character, conduct, and doom.

Within two months of the end of Camp David the Palestinian Authority birthed the second intifada – a terrorist war against Israel, but giving Israel a continual bloody nose would not yield the result desired. Israel defeated the second intifada moving the Palestinians back to square one. Present Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has a different tactic in mind: to get the UN to step in and impose a solution on Israel. Then US Secretary of State John Kerry restarted negotiations on July 29, 2013. Israeli and Palestinian negotiators met in Washington to restart formal negotiations after a more than three year void. A nine month deadline was set which ends on April 31st 2014.

How are the talks going?  What is being worked out behind the scenes?  No one is talking, at least not to the press.  US Secretary of State John Kerry made clear at the outset of the talks he labored so intensively to restart that he would be the only one authorized to speak on their progress.

Empire of the City – The Unholy Trinity that Rules the World

Yes, The Vatican is “The City” of The Empire Of The City, you could just as well say, “The Empire of the Vatican.” Thru this tripartite division she fulfills every criterion of the Revelation to qualify as Mystery Babylon. You will also notice that “city” is singular in all instances, this is more an indication of proof with the contemporary use in the description: The Empire Of The City. Therefore we have three locations, if not the entire world, to fulfill all of the grandeur, evil and catastrophe applied to the city, Mystery Babylon: Little explanation is necessary when the required criteria are applied to the tripartite administrated New World Social-Economic Order of the Woman that rides the Beast. It would be impossible to apply all of these points to any one particular nation, even The United States of America.
